Dentures are intended to restore your smile’s appearance and function after you have lost many or all of your teeth. Modern dentures can look and act very natural. If you wear traditional adhesive dentures, you can upgrade your dentures to ones supported by dental implants. The All-On-4® system of dentures allow for just four implant posts to support your smile’s restoration. Your dentures will become a permanent fixture in your mouth, so you would not need to worry about shifting when speaking or eating. Implants supporting your dentures can also help to ensure your jaw’s bone health and stability.
Partial dentures can be custom-designed to fit around any existing teeth in your smile. Partial dentures allow you to keep your healthy teeth intact while rebuilding what was lost of your smile. Restoring parts of your smile allow for you to maintain your abilities to speak clearly, bite, and chew. Keeping your natural teeth help to keep your oral health in good shape.
Dentures are designed to firmly fit along your dental ridge. Over time, dentures can begin to grow loose because your jawbone can change after tooth loss. The roots of your teeth stimulate and promote a healthy flow of nutrients to the jawbone. When the roots of the teeth are lost, the nutrients stop flowing to your jawbone causing it to lose density. As your jaw loses bone density, it can soften and change shape, which can make it so that your dentures no longer fit properly. All-On-4® system uses implants that can help with loose dentures in two ways. First, implants provide stimulation to your jawbone that can prevent bone density loss. Second, dentures secured to implants can fit better and are not prone to slippage like other types of dentures.
